Pedal by Andean foothills, deep into Chilean countryside, savouring the wine culture found throughout the Maipo Valley. There’s a secret oasis on the outskirts of Santiago, and it happens to be Chile’s most famous vineyard, Concha y Toro. We cycle both morning and afternoon, on the edge of the world’s largest vineyard, finalizing our 9km outing at a quaint, boutique winery, William Fevre, famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc.
Our exclusive, daily wine experience starts when our van picks you up at the metro Las Mercedes, and takes you to one of Maipo Valley’s hidden treasure, Las Majadas de Pirque. This laid-back bike ride is just outside of Santiago’s urbanisation, making it peaceful but accessible at the same time.
On this 90 minute gentle downhill ride, you will see the 100+ years of several vintage vineyards like Concha y Toro and 10+ boutique wineries that make this valley so memorable. You will learn that there are three factors that affect the production of sugar in the plants: sunlight, humidity, and the conditions of the soil. You will learn a lot without being intimidated by wine snobbery… 100% prohibited. Stories and wine worth savouring will be the theme of this tour. You, riding a green bike, on vacation in the middle of a vineyard, the Andes towering in the background. That’s enough to make anyone jealous, and makes an awesome screensaver.
Why take THIS tour? We offer the only half day outing on a bike that includes a boutique vineyard. Although small, our vineyard of choice, William Fevre’s roots traces back to Bordeaux and produces 6+ grape varieties, bottling 14 different blends with different barrel maturation. You could always go with a busload of tourists on your own tourist bus or you could be more green, local, and have a lot more fun doing it by bike with our sister company La Bicicleta Verde. There’s no better way to escape the city for a few hours than relaxing here in the grapeful air.
Why cycle with us? We are the ONLY bike tour visiting Maipo Valley 7 days a week, 2x a day with differing options for different budgets. We chose to lead a tour here because of its central location, just 20 minutes from the metro station, but also because our local partners, including both vineyards and restaurants, believe that bikes should be part of local sustainability. The Green Gurus (aka your local guides) are wine experts, but not wine snobs, and will make you feel comfortable while showing you the ropes.
Who should NOT take this tour? Our list of unhappy customers clearly states that hard-core cyclists think our 7-9 km gentle route is just not exhausting enough. If you wear bike shorts to this outing, you will be disappointed. This is an interactive experience, so please feel free to stop us and ask anything you want. This isn’t a pretentious wine experience; it’s for wine lovers, not wine snobs! Visitors looking for the cheapest deal should take a big bus tour for half the price. We charge a price to make our tours viable over the long term for our city, the staff, and the vineyard while delivering the small-group, boutique experience. Three of our managers started their internship with us and decided to make it their career out of love…don’t treat us like Walmart.

Meet Your Guide at Las Majadas de Pirque
Meet your green T-shirted guide at the impressive 19th century mansion Las Majadas de Pirque, located just outside Santiago city limits. Upon arriving to the valley we will be outfitted with helmets and bikes for a beautiful 1 to 1.5 hour ride through Maipo Valley, before making our way to a family owned vineyard, William Fevre.
After the first hour of cycling our way alongside the 100 year old vines, we stop to talk about how this valley was born, including the grapes, and what is special about this unique terroir.
Take in the countryside, the locals calling out their ‘Hola’ to us, and a few stops in the shade for a break, or a pic of the impressive panoramic views of the mountains that follow us through the route.
William Fevre Vineyard
Our final destination is obvious, a vineyard, the winery, tasting… Chilean grapes! We will get of our bikes and your Guru will explain the wine making process, as we walk through the modern production rooms. Onwards we go, seeing equipment used to make wine of all varieties, whites, medium reds and bold red alike. A super relaxing morning/afternoon will be had, accompanied by 3 tastings. Ask us anything, we are certain to know, and especially if your question is about wine!
Don’t forget to check out the wine shop at the end for some affordable vino to take home… or just drink.
After the Tour
We’ll arrange our bus shuttle to drop you off right at the metro when you are finished with your wine… Cheers to that! Or better yet, keep enjoying your day in Maipo Valley! Tag on Concha y Toro with our discount and we will drop you off there for a snack, tasting or full bodega tour. Or maybe you're hungry after all that riding? Our bus can also drop you off at a scenic local spot for some nourishment before you head back to Santiago.
