Took the wine and bike tour of the Maipo Valley – it was so fun! Excellent group of random people, good mix of biking, history, information culture, and wine! Carlos was our guide and he was very energetic and fun! Our whole group got along so well we went out for drinks after! Really had a great day. Highly recommend to all!
We were especially fortunate to have Juan, our guide, to ourselves as he proved to be extremely knowledgeable in viniculture, as well as in a diversity of topics surrounding Chilean economics and society. The tour started with breakfast, followed by a cycle through the vineyards of Santa Rita, Vina Carmen and Vina Nativa. We tried grapes off the vine, met assorted llamas then toured several wine making facilities and their associated historical buildings. Lunch followed with a choice of pastel de choclo and cazuela among other typical specialties. Highlights included the pastoral setting and seeing where Carmenere grapes were rediscovered in the 1990’s.
We did the full day Bike & Wine Tour. It was absolutely a highlight of our trip! The team from La Bicicleta Verde picked us up right on time and took care of all the details. Our first stop was at a restaurant for breakfast in a small town before starting on the bike tour through three vineyards. The scenery was beautiful and the pace was relaxing.
We met the owner – Peter who is brilliant and fun – and he invited us to our last tour to Kingston Family Winery in Casablanca. The breathtaking views and riding mountain bikes through the vineyards, plus being able to sample various wines they produced was exciting, relaxing and photo worthy to my friends in the States – they were envious! First class operation. Thank you, Peter and all the guides who were passionate, funny and obviously love to share their culture and city.
A truly spectacular area. The cycling was not too difficult and Chris was always considerate of everyone’s cycling and fitness abilities. He has carefully crafted a beautiful route throughout the vineyard and provides interesting and relevant information at the rest stops. It was great to be in the company of someone knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things regarding wine; landscape, weather, nutrients, growing and production methods, local and general wine industry, various grapes and styles of wine…
We tasted 4 wines; one Sauvignon blanc, two Pinot noirs and a Syrah. There was no pressure to buy anything and “top ups” were freely given.
This is a very professional group that made the day fun and safe! On the wine tour you get to check out 2 different wineries and our guide, Juan, was knowledgeable about wine and the process, ensuring we all had an amazing time
This a great way to spend a few hours in Santiago. We took a fairly short train ride out to Quilin and couldn’t believe that there could be a vineyard so close to the city (it took us about half an hour to get there). Matias, our guide, was getting the bikes ready when we arrived and was very welcoming. We had a good sized group for the bike & wine tour of about 9 people. We were given water, a tasting glass and headed off into the vineyard on our bikes.
